10 year old Thalia making neck warmers with Aunt Leslie!!
There are some very simple neck warmer patterns out there.  This one I found on line https://www.applegreencottage.com/2017/02/neck-warmer-free-pattern-cowl-scarf.html
and it's so easy that my 10 year old niece made 7 of them in one evening.  They are being wrapped for Christmas gifts!!  There are several different choices of fleece fabrics to choose from, so we may just have to make more.  These make wonderful gifts for family, friends and those in need of warm items in the winter months.  Enjoy!!!

Getting ready for the holidays...

I was asked to make this very special rug punched wool yarn stocking for a co-worker.  Her daughter is giving it as a Christmas gift to a dear friend.  What fun to do...although the cuff was a bit thick and hard to sew, it came out quite nice.

As I worked on the above pet stocking, I was lucky enough to have the supervision of my little nugget, Chesney!!

Beautiful design by: Stacy Nash.
I love working on her designs, they always turn out to be such nice pieces.

Working with German Glass Glitter can be rather messy, but the end result is very pretty and worth the clean-up needed after you've finished your lovely project.

Olde New England Yuletide Punch Needle Stocking.  Designed by:  Vermont Harvest Folk Art (Doreen Frost).  I needle punched this stocking with 100% wool yarn.  What a fun project!

Time to add Glass Glitter to these handmade cardboard stars.  I may add some paint to them before I glitter...just to add more flair.

Needle Minders are my new favorite things to make!  They are so handy...don't you just love them?

I love this ornament, so much!  The anchor design itself is by Stacy Nash.  The pattern was actually for a pinkeep, but I made it into an ornament instead.  I love the hand dyed blue linen I purchased in South Carolina (while on a trip doing volunteer hospice work) and the variegated thread colors by The Gentle Art.  It all came together so nicely.  I purchased the wooden snowflake ornament on Etsy, and used that for my backing.

"Tree of Life"

This wool hooked rug was started by Dirk Wygmans, but finished by Peg Wygmans.  Both did a beautiful job on the start and completion of this rug.  I'm the lucky daughter who received this as one of the most wonderful Christmas gifts ever received.

The beach sand is red on Prince Edward Island.  The windy weather was beautiful and the sand was soft to the touch.  If you've never been, I highly recommend.

A lesson on creating your own Punch Needle pattern:

Creating your own design can be tricky at times, especially when there are words and numbers involved.  The pattern side is the BACK SIDE of your finished piece.  Therefore, when using words and numbers, you need to remember that your finished piece will be a mirror image of what your pattern is.  I drew up my own pattern, forgetting that my finished piece would be a mirror image.  As you can see by the pictures, I wrote HALLOWEEN the correct way…or so I thought.  It was the wrong way since it would be the opposite on the FRONT SIDE.

This my friends, is actually how it should look!!  Notice how NEEWOLLAH is now written on the pattern.  When you flip over your finished piece, the wording will now be correct.

Happy Punching and thanks for stopping by.

As I sat in my backyard, I peacefully listened to this beautiful bluebird’s song.  Gazing at this handsome, plump, vibrant bird, I have created this sweet Harvest Bluebird ornament, so I may enjoy him all year long.

My 9 year old niece, Thalia, wanted to create her very own punch needle design.  She decided that Chesney, my 13 year old Chihuahua, would make a great model.  Thalia drew up her design and together we created this wonderful little pillow.  I'm one very proud aunt!! xo
